Construction Management Software

Description

DCE fully manages the construction of shore protection structures. With that comes an immense flow of data, paperwork, and general responsibility to manage. Staff have expressed the need to create a system to manage the various aspects of our projects such as the construction oversight (i.e. inspection forms, daily inspector log, photos, etc.), surveys, permits, plans, plans changes, change orders, pay applications, submittals, and submittal responses to name a few items. Currently, these items are all housed in various folders on the share drives (currently being converted over to OneDrive). While OneDrive allows for multiple users to upload documents and share information, the organization of the work has been non-uniform as each project manager has chosen a workflow as they best saw fit. This leads to confusion and lack of efficiency as other users typically cannot locate files in a timely fashion as well as making it difficult to run reports on costs, work completed, start and end dates, etc. A project management system similar to USACE’s RMS would greatly increase efficiency and workflow for our staff. DCE has researched potential vendors in the past and has received unofficial estimates at well over $100K to build and maintain such a system. DCE would like to further explore options with DOIT and see if there are abilities in-house, as well as the ability to integrate with current systems that Treasury uses for payments to automate several steps to create greater efficiency.
