Azure-PAAS-Website - Re-architect WordPress Set-up

Description

Work with Microsoft and OIT to implement Microsoft’s plan to re-architect our WordPress set up to make it cheaper and faster and more scalable.

Problem Statement

DEP has been incurring some high costs in our Azure WordPress site. We’ve scaled back on some of the VMS we are using, but we are still experience some slow performance. In addition, we want to cut our reliance on the vendor MNX who is presently administering our Azure set-up

Project Justification

Increase performance, reduce costs and cut reliance on outside vendor

Rich asked for help to run the cost evaluation today when Tony offered. Rich said we are ready for that. Tony committed to getting Calvin to run the long-discussed cost evaluation.

MS Success meeting update today: No new cost observations yet. This will be clearer with more testing and deployment in the new set-up as per Rich H.

Met with B&F on the CARS charges for Azure website hosting. Since it’s DEP-wide use, these costs will not need to come out of our budget. Still need to expedite the migration off of the expensive Azure VM’s to get costs down - set up weekly status meetings to track progress.
