Water Allocation Availability Screening (WAAS) Tool
Description
This project aims to update and maintain the WAAS tool, which also includes necessary software and server upgrades. It is an interactive web mapping and screening tool designed to identify New Jersey’s areas of water supply concern (AOCs) for the purpose of assessing water allocation availability at a specified location. It will be used to identify potential permitting process issues and impediments.
Problem Statement
The current WAAS tool has been used for several years by NJDEP staff, applicants, consultants, and the general public. Per NJGWS Technical Memorandum 12-2 it is expected that applicants refer to the WAAS tool to see if their proposed diversion source location is in any AOCs before applying for new or modified Water Allocation Permits. Updates and maintenance are required for the WAAS Tool and have it be built with the newest GIS available on the new server.
