ArcGIS Hub for NJ Fish & Wildlife

Description

Our office increasingly relies on volunteers to assist with field-based data collection efforts that support fish and
wildlife monitoring, habitat management, and stewardship initiatives. While ArcGIS Field Maps is a critical tool for
standardized and geospatially accurate data collection, it currently requires users to have organizational accounts,
which limits our ability to engage external volunteers in a secure and controlled manner.
ArcGIS Hub Premium would address this limitation by allowing us to:
• Create and manage community (volunteer) accounts that are separate from internal organizational accounts
• Provide controlled access to specific Field Maps projects, layers, and forms without exposing internal systems
or data
• Centralize volunteer engagement through a Hub site that can host project descriptions, maps, instructions, and
links to data collection apps
• Ensure data integrity and accountability by associating submitted data with authenticated volunteer accounts
rather than anonymous or shared credentials
This capability is increasingly important as we expand the use of ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 for field data
collection and seek to involve partners and volunteers more directly in our work.

Problem Statement

We have several collaboration and field collection projects that
involve volunteers that are not part of our organization. Some of
these include Fisher, Hard Mast and Beaver & Otter data collections
projects. All projects have ArcGIS Field maps enabled to collect data,
but volunteers currently do not have access.

Project Justification

The Office of Fish and Wildlife Information Systems is requesting
access to ArcGIS Hub (Premium) to support the management of
volunteers and to enable secure data collection by individuals
outside our organization using ArcGIS Field Maps.
