Address Suggest Functionality in New or Revamped RSP Applications
Description
BGIS is proposing: 1. Add the NJ-Geocode suggest functionality in the Location Address section of RSPs, in new RSPs going forward. 2. When the existing RSPs are revamped, incorporate this functionality in them as well. 3. If an address is not in the NJ-Geocode, it should still give users an option to enter address manually. (The same way as in the Modernized NJEMS) 4. The need for this project is driven by EO5 which notes that “streamlining permitting processes is critical to reducing costs, boosting innovation, creating good jobs, and growing the economy”.
Problem Statement
Currently, in the RSPs’ Location Address section, an applicant types in the address, selects city, types in zip code etc. What we are noticing is: 1. Incorrect spellings, typos in street names and zip codes 2. Incorrect street abbreviations thus causing confusion. 3. Mailing address is entered instead of physical location address. 4. Mismatched city and municipality
This results in: 1. Incorrect data entering NJEMS and in the program database. 2. Wasted time for program and DOIT staff to fix these issues when they are found 3. Incorrect data can negatively affect decision making.

Project Justification
We could continue relying on outreach and training as the sole means of teaching people to enter the correct address. But this does not provide the complete information contained in the Address Suggest function. That information helps users avoid errors.
