Enhancement/Expansion of NJEMS Inspection Targeting Tool to Other Program Areas
Description
NJEMS Integrated Inspection Targeting tool. The tool filters Program Interests based on criteria determined at the program level, as the current Air Inspection Targeting screens do, but with support for multiple programs. Inspections can be assigned and result in creation of activity tracking tasks or Pending Inspections.
Problem Statement
Multiple Enforcement and related programs were interested in and have expressed the need for an inspection targeting tool integrated with NJEMS. Air has such a tool, but it's Air Program specific. DWE is looking to build a tool (IPTC-389) for Water inspections. Each program is managing inspection assignment differently. Some with SharePoint, some with Access or Excel, but all rely on WEBi and NJEMS. Different programs have different concerns related to targeting, in terms how how to prioritize inspections, and what NJEMS data is important to consider in reporting., but the underlying framework is the same - Site, PI, PI Type, Activities, Documents, Subj Items, Activity Tracking, etc. Spending money and resources rebuilding this framework in several different forms doesn't see like the best approach.
Project Justification
DOIT feels that a multimedia tool would be best, or a least a tool that uses the same framework with some room for customization for program areas. This would ensure cost sharing, consistency, cross-media awareness, and reduced overall development effort. It also places the tool within NJEMS and allows easy integration with To-Do List, eliminating duplicate effort in doing assignment in multiple places. It improves awareness by ensuring that scheduled inspections appear in NJEMS rather than some external place which may not be accessible.
