Report a Spring (Survey 123)

Description

The scope of the project is to create a Survey 123 web survey portal. We would like to invite the public to report a spring if they know of one. Right now, we propose a Survey 123 APP that includes, 1. background information about our project. 2. A spot for the person to include their name and email address. 3. A graphic interactive map where they can give a precise location of the spring. 4. A place where they can submit a photo. 5. A place to report the date and time. 6. A place for comments about the spring. 7. Observer phone number. 8. A submit button that downloads the information they input when it is done.

Problem Statement

The NJ Geological and Water Survey has been mapping springs since 2007. We have exhausted our inventory of known springs to map. We have been contacted by the public a few times asking us if we could include springs they know about in our database. We decided that by setting up a survey we could obtain many more springs. After we are alerted by the public about a spring, we would inspect each site we are given.

Project Justification

The NJ Geological and Water Survey (NNJGWS) has been collecting data about groundwater in the state since its inception in 1835. We are seeking public input to help us build this knowledge base and improve our understanding of the quality and quantity of water by helping us map springs. We would like to create a Survey 123 Web APP portal to collect spring’s locations and information from the public.
