Decision Support System

Description

The DEP is developing a Decision Support System, with assistance from WSP, that will help guide the development and funding of coastal storm flood strategies.

Problem Statement

None

Project Justification

The DEP, Climate and Flood Resilience Program makes decisions and recommendations regarding the allocation of funds for projects along the New Jersey coast. To improve that process, the Program along with the Bureau of GIS, is leveraging funds from the National Disaster Resilience Competition and lessons learned from the RBDM Project to create a Decision Support System.

Through the lens of risk assessment, mitigation costs and full societal project benefits, the Decision Support System will provide information and data expressing the environmental, economic and social values relevant to address near-future risks and highlight challenges that threaten the vitality and productivity of the state through DEP’s internal GeoHub, a GIS based software.

Estimated Transactions

Y21-23, anticipated that the Program will need min maintenance and IT support for the DSS, to regular db upgrades and publishing of data on enterprise servers. Most activities will be automated with oversight by Bureau of GIS.
