Report a Landslide (Survey 123)
Description
The scope of the project is to create a Survey 123 web survey APP to report a landslide. Right now, we propose our project to look like this; 1. information about our project. 2. A spot for the person to include their name and email address. 3. A graphic interactive map where they can give a precise location of the landslide. 4. A place where they can submit a photo. 5. A place to report the date. 6. A place for comments about the landslide. 7. Observer phone number. 8. Observer email. 9. A submit button that downloads the information they input when they are done.
Problem Statement
Landslides occur throughout the state and most of the time don’t get reported. We are looking for public input to obtain more landslide sites. We would inspect each site we are given. There would be no cost other than salaries for this project. We would be using an in-house tool (Survey 123) and the information we get would be crowd sourced.
Project Justification
The NJ Geological and Water Survey (NNJGWS) has been collecting data on Landslides in the state. Landslides are a geologic hazard that accounts for hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage yearly in New Jersey. We are seeking public input to help us build this knowledge base by helping us map landslides. We hope to create a Survey 123 Web APP portal to collect landslide locations and information from the public.
