Deer Depredation Permit Application

Description

On a yearly basis, NJFW receives around 200 Deer Depredation Permit
Applications. Previously, these permits were paper-based, and the received data
was inconsistently stored across three regions in an excel document. Survey123
will be used to create the new process for Deer Depredation Permit Applications
that farmers will apply for to be granted permissions for the killing of wild deer
that have the potential to ruin their crops. This will not only improve the efficiency
of the permit application process for the public, but will improve the management
of the data and will store the parcels permitted for deer depredation in GIS
format. This permit application will collect permittee(s) info, agent(s) info, and
cultivated lands (parcels).

Problem Statement

This project was requested by BWM to improve the process of receiving, reviewing,
granting, and viewing Deer Depredation Permit Applications. The Farm Bureau tasked
them with making the process easier, but also creating an electronic platform. The
current process used allows for too many data inconsistencies and requires a lot of
work for the public and NJFW staff. Survey123 will be used to replace the paper
permit applications, email notifications will be used to notify BWM and BLE of new
permit requests, PowerAutomate will be needed for notifications and exporting data
to create permits using a report template, and experience builder will be used for
reviewing and editing the received data, along with issuing the permit if approved.
These processes will require less overall data entry by the public, will ensure data is
consistently managed, and will allow BLE to grant approvals faster.
