Interactive Map for Restoration Grants

Description

Water quality restoration grants are awarded by the DEP to fund watershed restoration activities and initiatives around New Jersey that address nonpoint source pollution (NPS). Lately outside organizations have asked for lists of projects that fall within geographical areas such as the Delaware River Basin. A static map with an excel sheet is currently on our website but there is no way to interact with it. We have a GIS layer that is internal in the program but we have not made it available to the public. We would like to highlight all the projects, watershed plans and success stories on an easy to use interactive map to place on our website so that the public can easily search projects and see what the program has accomplished. The interactive map will also be beneficial for staff within the Bureau to determine future priorities and project locations.

Project Justification

This map will be beneficial to internal staff at the DEP because it will avoid questions raised by outside organizations, it will aid in various reports to EPA, and it will help the decision making process for future priorities of the program./This map will be beneficial to external entities and grantees to display all the work the program has accomplished. It will allow them to search for projects in their area that may help answer questions at the local level.
