Medical Waste Facilities and Transporters annual reporting Facility Submittal Service (FSS)
Description
Add to the 10 online form types available within the Solid and Hazardous Waste Reporting Services at DEP Online, and/or enable a shared email resource for receiving the small number of unaccounted for submissions.
10/2 update - Interim solution will be setup of a new FSS to receive spreadsheets for annual reports directly into NJEMS from both facilities and transporters. The pace of FSS setup will allow us to forgo any new shared email resources.

Work toward the new FSS continued from fall 20023 to current February 2025, with a slow down across March 2024 to Oct 2024 as reflected in the attached chain of emails as the program and DOIT traded information. What began as two FSS - for RMW Facilities and RMW Transporters has recently expanded (message Jan 20, 2025 Gerchman to Mishra) to consider two types of RMW Facilities plus the RMW Transporters.

Meeting today clarified an interim solution to pursue the FSS that will incorporate transporters and facilities, serving about 70 total entities who need to report to DEP annually and use either paper or an existing shared email. This will be in place of any new shared emails as it can be done in -house and rapidly (within 6 months).
A future project would be needed to build a custom RSP service to enable detailed online data entry that could replace the current spreadsheets now being manually entered or imported into ad-hoc Access databases.

Please also be aware of [IPTD-244] Tonnage Services for Sustainable Waste | External (external-share.com) which describes the recent development of a number of related services. A March 14, 2023 comment (Scott Tyrell) notes that 12 of 13 identified serves were developed. If the small volume of annual submissions for #371 above argues against its development, perhaps something remaining undone about this project would make a different case for revisiting the service.
