NJEMS Modernization Pega UI/UX Standardization Phase II

Description

This project will require the evaluation of existing UX/UI elements and documentation to establish an official set of UX/UI standards for the Modernized NJEMS application.  The effort will result in ensuring consistency with existing and newly developed GUI functionality.  This will be accomplished by establishing commonality in GUI elements across milestones, using current UX/UI best practices, getting program buy-in/consensus on standards, creating a formal UX/UI standard document, retrofitting earlier UX/UI elements so they meet the newly documented standards, and using those standards for all future development efforts.

Problem Statement

Despite early efforts to standardize the UX/UI for Modernized NJEMS with Milestone 0, discrepancies exist in certain areas of the system which cause confusion to end-users. Most of the discrepancies resulted from two key factors: 1.) the need to change versions of the Pega software (starting with version 7.3, moving to 8.1, and then to 8.6) during the development of milestones and the different UX/UI tool kits included in each, and 2.) the desire to maintain legacy performance in some areas, which resulted in customization of certain GUI elements, most notably grids.

Project Justification

With the rollout of additional milestones, it is evident that standardization needs to be re-addressed to ensure a consistent look and feel across the different milestones/functional modules, which will reduce learning curves, eliminate confusion, and help system end-users perform their work more effectively.
