Problem Statement

BEARS regularly generates various water quality reports, from voluminous water quality data collected and analyzed, that are released for public view and use. These reports are complex and were historically created either in word or pdf formats that were cumbersome to read and navigate.

Project Justification

The CCMP Annual Report which is typically over 20 pages long with voluminous data and complex information has been released to the public as a pdf document over the years. Continuing to release these Reports as a pdf document is outdated and therefore less effective in getting the message out to the public about NJ’s Water Quality at the Beaches. A Story Map is an easier, more modern, and efficient method for the public to review the information. The Annual Report is a requirement in the BEACH Act Grant and part of the work plan approved
in the application. Other reports generated and released to the public in story map format by the Bureau have received great support and praises from the public.

Estimated Transactions

None

Target Rollout Date

10 May 2024

Target Rollout Date Reason

May 10, 2024. If not completed by then, the next Beach Season will have already begun and therefore the information will be outdated. We will then have to wait for the completion of Beach Season 2024 and data analysis to complete the Story Map for the next year’s Annual Report
