Providing CSRR GIS data to the public in an easy to use and understand format

Description

The NJDEP Commissioner has tasked our program with getting CSRR GIS data out to the public in an easy to use and understand format. Specifically, we are looking to create a format that allows the general public to search an area or locale to see what Known Contaminated Sites List (KCSL) sites are in the vicinity and what information exists regarding those cases. The Commissioner asked that we include the Site History and Site Operations. This information is only available in remedial reports in digital format that have been provided to CSRR through online services. We would like to use sql, python and AI to extract this information from these reports and feed it back to the public through a dataminer report launched via a customized web mapping application in Experience Builder.

Problem Statement

We are looking to create a format that allows the general public to search an area or locale to see what Known Contaminated Sites List (KCSL) sites are in the vicinity and what information exists regarding those cases.

Project Justification

Documented evidence to support this project is that NJDEP is trying to make sure that the general public has access to the multitude of GIS data available in an easily accessible and easily understandable format. This includes the Site History and Site Operations that require leveraging AI to extract from CSRR remedial reports.

Target Rollout Date

Target Rollout Date Reason

The Commissioner is hoping for us to release the application that will provide data on our Known Contaminated Sites to the public by April 2025. We are hoping to be able to include the Site Operations and Site History with this release but can incorporate this into the application at a later date if this portion of the project has not yet been completed.
