CZM Year 45: Public Access for People with Disabilities
Description
There is an existing public access to tidal waterways GIS dataset. Under this contract, the intent is to identify 20 municipalities in need of reassessment and to update that layer for general use for the public and to provide reports or memos that can be distributed to the townships to help identify areas in need of improvements.
Problem Statement
NJ DEP maintains a public access dataset for towns with coastal and tidal waterways with information on handicap accessibility. This dataset is in need of an update with field verifications to identify sites that are accessible and ADA-compliant.
Project Justification
The New Jersey Coastal Management Program identified Public Access as a priority for 2021-2025. Stakeholder feedback indicated strong support for improved Public Access for people with disabilities.
