Aids to Navigation Problem Reporting (Public Facing)
Description
This project provides a web based form for the public to submit reports about missing or damaged aids to navigation in state channels. Collected information will be stored for the purpose of contacting them to follow up or request more information. The geographic location of the navigational aid in question is recoded. Collected information will only be shared within the Office of Coastal Engineering (OCE), Aids to Navigation (ATON) and upper management. The information will be used to advise ATON of issues with navigational aids and attempt to resolve these issues in a more efficient and effective manner. The intent is to reduce the time staff spends coordinating with ATON to resolve issues.
Problem Statement
There were delays in deploying slow/no wake buoys during the 2023 boating season. This resulted in many complaints. This consumed a lot of resources from the Office of Coastal Engineering to handle the volume of calls. We would like to provide a simple to use web form to help handle public concerns about navigational tools.
