Aids to Navigation Data Collection
Description
This project provides a web-based form that Aids to Navigation staff can use to record the type and location of navigational aids as they are placed this season. Collected data will help inform OCE staff of which navigational aids have been placed and where ATON crews are working and which areas they are working towards. This will improve our response to public inquiries about the placement (and timing) of navigational aids.
The collected data will also be used to update the Office of Coastal Engineering's GIS inventory of navigational aids
Problem Statement
Last year saw delays due to weather and mechanical failures. The Office of Coastal Engineering fielded many complaints and questions about when navigation aids would be placed. This translated to many phone calls and emails with ATON crew who are constantly on the water during boating season.
