DEP lacks a complete and integrated picture of its various IT assets. Without this, opportunities may be missed to leverage all that we already have, leading to unnecessary expense or effort.

The shift to a centralized PC/laptop purchasing model necessitates an improvement in inventory capabilities including sharing the data widely and enabling contributions from many. This step up in visibility of basic hardware inventory highlights the value of shared information across all IT assets and creates momentum to envision optimal additional elements to a robust, comprehensive IT asset inventory.
