Officer Body Worn Camera
Description

Project Justification
Many studies over the past ten years have suggested that placing body worn camera (BWCs) on police officers improves the civility of police -citizen encounters and enhances citizen perceptions of police transparency and legitimacy. In response to these studies, many police departments have adopted this technology to improve the quality of policing in their communities. There are also legislative actions that will require such equipment. This is considered complete given the cameras are deployed.
from Joe Soell via Kim Springer 8/15/23 all body cams have been deployed. Not sure if that means project complete at this point, but clearly a milestone.
As of this morning (5/25/2023) Joe Soell was able to connect to Evidence Library and manage roles. He will be working with Moto tomorrow to complete the configuration.
Jeffrey is working with OIT to schedule Azure App configuration for SPP body cameras
update As per Kim Springer: Joe Soell is meeting with the body camera vendor today (5/10/23) and Frank Panico, Chief of the Bureau of Law Enforcement said the cameras will be used in the field starting June 2023.
C-LSAR review by OIT has been completed. OIT’s comments were sent to DEP on 11/15/22. Remaining PO (for Parks) was cut on 11/15/22. Next step is the Cloud Implementation Review (C-IR) which much be held at least 14 days prior to production deployment. Issues that still need to be resolved include disaster recovery and document retention.
No purchase yet. Both programs lined up (Parks + F&W - PO done for F&W), Approval from Park Police sent Sept 1. Jim M. working on LSAR now for needed NJOIT blessing. Responses from NJOIT last week, Jim to respond. Over 2 years out of compliance with camera mandate (not alone, but only 1 of 5 out of 400). What is DOIT role after purchase? Joe/Tim to manage and review video. Seeking to have devices delivered direct to programs- DOIT must catch up to inventory (Wen). Pete is fine with DOIT catch-up arrangement. Tim and Joe to work through Jessica for labels to equipment. Entry is still required from the tags and from the serial numbers (emailed info is fine- Ben suggests using the existing deployment form to correlate).
