NHR Internet Improvement Project
Description
NHR field offices are in need of internet access improvements to meet the data / bandwidth needs of current technologies.
Project Justification
NHR field area staff are often plagued by slow internet or disruptions in internet access that impacts their ability to perform work duties. Migration of existing connections to faster and more reliable systems that have consistent uptime and in some cases backup will allow staff to provide good customer service and conduct state business with limited interruption.

10/5 meeting with Pete. Washington Crossing was identified this week as a need.
Spruce Run Well House Pump update: A Cradlepoint router has been installed at the well house at the Spruce Run Recreation Area and is providing notifications via Cradlepoint NetCloud. Dave Leitinger completed the install on 8/4/23. NetCloud is configured to send a notification when the router looses connection due to a power outage which then alerts the staff as to the off-line condition of the well pump so that they can take action to restart, repair or possibly evacuate campers due water not being available for bathroom or other uses.
Ben clarified the vast need for IoT devices to alert to power outages to trigger maintenance action, such as with water pumps losing power that can lead to closing a campground (kicking out campers). Critical issues of lack of internet in parks have been getting addressed for years, the next items are likely to be about getting ahead of more rare scenarios with negative implications.
DoIT (Dave Leitinger) installed a cellular router at the Stokes State Forest Maintenance facility to address an issue of poor internet connectivity through DSL. Sent request to Jeffery Ricciardi to disconnect DSL account 973-948-5072.
